| Abstract: | The knowledge economy has become a defining paradigm of contemporary economic development, emphasizing the strategic role of knowledge, innovation, digital transformation and human capital in generating competitiveness and sustainable growth. This paper aims to analyze the main dimensions of the knowledge economy and to highlight the relationship between knowledge-based resources and economic performance. The study focuses on four key pillars: human capital, innovation, digital economy and innovation output. By examining relevant indicators, the paper provides a multidimensional perspective on the transition toward knowledge-based development. This paper aims to analyze the main dimensions of the knowledge economy in selected Central and Eastern European countries and discusses the importance of digital transformation as an enabling factor for knowledge creation, dissemination and economic valorization. The findings suggest that economies investing consistently in education, innovation capacity and digital technologies are better positioned to enhance productivity, competitiveness and resilience. The paper concludes that the knowledge economy should be understood not only as a technological shift, but also as a structural transformation of economic systems, with significant implications for sustainable development and long-term competitiveness. |
